A School to Believe in

Here, at Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic School, our main pastoral message is to teach as Jesus did, by forming a community life of the Spirit, teaching how to render service to the Christian community and the entire human family, and developing a true love for the learning process. The curriculum at Saint Mark Catholic School reflects a balance of all areas of learning about the world, about life, and about one another through an emphasis on the integrated learning of reading, science, math, and the language arts.

Our Mission Statement

Our mission  is to provide a safe Christ-centered learning environment where students grow intellectually, spiritually, and physically to foster a desire for learning and to prepare each child to be a witness to the Catholic Faith and achieve their God given potential.

Prayer for our Teachers

Lord, we pray that you will empower our teachers, with your wisdom, your patience, your compassion. Keep them close to you, Lord as they walk into their classrooms so that the students will see a living example of your love and your peace; that our children may learn to choose the path of mercy and faith instead of violence and anger. Grant that our teachers may see the needs of those tender souls they guide, and be ready to meet each day with your strength and inspiration. Bless them O Lord, in their mission, so precious, to help us raise those lambs we have brought into your fold.

Catholic Schools Week
January 29th - February 5th is Catholic Schools Week - This year's theme is Faith - Academics - Service. The theme focuses on three priorities that Catholic schools establish that make them stand out from other educational institutions. Children are taught Faith - not just the basics of Christianity, but how to have a relationship with God. Academics - Catholic schools are held to very high standards. We strive to help each child reach his or her potential. Service - the giving of one's time and effort to help others is taught, both as an expression of faith, and good citizenship. Saint Mark has a full week of activities planned for the families. We will have field day, faculty-student volleyball game, bulletin board decorating contest, silly hat and silly sock day, elocution contest and a special All School Mass in honor of Grandparents. This Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 2nd. We invite grandparents of Saint Mark Parish to join us for this celebration.

Scouting News
Saint Mark Girl Scout troop 11031 spearheaded a service project for our military troops to collect snacks, letters and cards to send to the troops in Afghanistan. This past Thursday, January 5th our students received a surprise visit from Officer Alexander Santucci, a U.S. Marine, at the school Mass. Officer Santucci personally thanked the students, fielded questions and visited the classrooms. Our students really enjoyed their visit from Officer Santucci.
